The FIA clearly told all Formula 1 teams that the use of any self-leveling damper device used to modify the car ride height between qualifying and a Grand Prix would be declared illegal.

British magazine Autosport reports that an FIA spokesperson said that the governing body made its position clear to the teams following the Grand Prix of Malaysia.

The letter sent to the team states that any device with the purpose and/or effect to change the set-up of the suspension, while the car is under Parc Fermé conditions would be declared illegal.

Several rivals think the Red Bull Racing RB6s are using a clever system that lowers the cars in order to maximise their full potential during qualifying.

The FIA gave the RB6 the all clear after a thorough inspection during the Malaysian weekend, but rival teams have suggested that Red Bull may have found a way to achieve the affect without the use of a mechanical system.
