ESPN has announced on its website that Formula 1 could see its old turboengine make a comeback in 2013, going from the actual V8 engine to a 4 cylinders & 1,5L engine.
Ferrari already stated that the best way to create an engine that would be useful for "real" driving would be to use a turbo-compressed engine with direct gas injection
At Mercedes, Norbert Haug said that even though a smaller engine could create less CO2 emissions, all will not be won.
"If you keep travelling the whole F1 circus from Europe to Japan in 747 each year, you create much more CO2 than all of our cars during one complete season of racing", he told ESPN.
