The
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was announced in early 2007 at the
Abu Dhabi F1 Festival, and the first Formula 1 race - the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - will take place November 1st 2009.
The Yas Marina Circuit was designed by
Hermann Tilke. The track will feature a Monaco-style harbour front section using public roads, and another section similar to the Eau Rouge corner of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
The track for the Formula 1 cars runs to 5.5km but can be broken down into second and third configurations of 3.15km and 2.36km, respectively.
