Qatar already hosts the only night race of the MotoGP championship, and the country is keen to bring Formula One to Doha.
With Bahrain grand prix already cancelled last year and still threaten for this year, Qatar could become a solution to keep F1 in the Middle-East.
Asked by The Hindu newspaper if Qatar is ready for F1, Nasser Khalifa al-Attiyah, the President of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), answered: "Not yet, in the future may be. We have done a lot of changes to this circuit, like modifications in accessing the track and other things. But it sure needs a lot more modifications, like the tower, relocating the buildings, many things."
Some year ago, before Singapore hosted the F1's first night Grand Prix, the Losail International Circuit held the first ever MotoGP under lights.
Now Nasser Khalifa al-Attiyah is opened up to other options: "It all depends on what the Government wants... whether it wants this circuit modified or it wants another circuit."
Qatar has already been chosen to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup and is still in contention to host the 2020 Olympics games.
The country also conclude a deal with the Silverstone circuit last year.
