Sebastian Vettel, the reigning Formula 1 World Champion, turns into a science teacher in this video released by the Red Bull Racing team.

The young German explains how the KERS works.

KERS is the acronym for Kinetic Energy Recovery System. This device serves to store electric energy generated by the braking to recharge batteries.

These batteries are then used to power an electric motor during up to six seconds, providing enough power to pass another car or to defend a position.

The moveable rear wing consists in a flap that moves up and down. By pressing on a button, the driver can change the angle of the flap, therefore reducing drag and increasing the top speed of his car by as much as 15 km/h. Enough to pass a rival.
