According to some serious European web sites and magazines, the future of Russian Vitaly Petrov at Renault F1 Team is now in jeopardy.
However, we must be careful with this sort of news as rumours are sometimes intentionally started to reach specific objectives.
So according to the rumour, Petrov has failed to come up with the 15 millions of euros in sponsorship due in exchange of the drive at Renault.
French magazine Auto Hebdo was told by sources that Petrov’s manager, Oksana Kosachenko, has contacted five Russian companies to get sponsorship for his client, but was apparently turned down by all of them
Kosachenko then turned to Vitaly’s father, a wealthy businessman, who had been assured by the Bank of Saint Petersburg that he would be able to get a loan of 7.5-million euros.
But the bank has backtracked and is now reviewing the loaning procedures.
Petrov was expected to come up with the sum of 7.5 million euros early March, and the remaining 7.5 million in July.
Several teams were fully aware that sponsorship money could be a problem. Why do you think that they have officially entered two reserve drivers?
