The second month of the year saw a dip in sales across the board. It seems the results are as unpredictable as this winter’s crazy yo-yoing temperatures, or maybe we’re just seeing the backlash from the traditional Christmas shopping frenzy.
Whatever the case, Honda kicked the year off with a surprising 144% increase in January 2012 over January 2011 but had to content itself with a modest 14% gain in February. Following in Honda’s footsteps were Mazda with 13.5%, General Motors with 16% and Audi, Nissan and Mercedes-Benz with 17%.
Infinity and Kia did a bit better with a 24.2 and 20% hike in sales, respectively. Suzuki and Toyota both saw a 30% increase, again compared to February 2011.
MINI and Land Rover topped the charts this month by passing the 44% mark. Conversely, Ford, Jaguar and Volvo saw their score drop by -3.8%, -18% and -17.3%, respectively. And that was February, ladies and gentleman.
