GM’s Hamtramck/Detroit assembly line has been building the Volt for the last two months, but the first production versions intended for sale have just started rolling off the line.
The very first Volt intended for sale, painted in Viridian Joule Tricoat (a fancy name for silver) and featuring a Light Neutral interior with dark accents, was auctioned online for charity, and the winner paid $225,000 for it. The fully-equipped car’s MSRP in the U.S. is, by the way, $42,690.
The proceeds of the auction will be handed over to the Detroit Public Schools Foundation once the final bid is verified.
The auction also included a 240-volt charging station, which retails for $490.
