Based on a stretched Mustang platform, the Interceptor concept is a brutish-looking sedan that features the common yet still attractive low-cabin with a high beltline design.

The original rumours circulating around this car were that Ford had lost its mind and was going to introduce a 4-door version of the famous Mustang. Although they share similar underpinnings, the Interceptor has a long 3,068-mm wheelbase (120.8 inches) and spans 5,121 millimetres long (201.6 inches).

The engine on duty in the Interceptor Concept is a 400-hp 5.0-liter V8. Called the Cammer engine, a name used in Mustang engines of yesteryear, it is actually based on Ford's 4.6L engine, and successfully powered Ford Racing's FR500C last season. Its power is directed in the right direction, rearward, through a 6-speed manual transmission. The Cammer can run on an E85 fuel mix; this is an effort on Ford's behalf to make the big bad car a little greener.

The Interceptor's cabin features a number of improvements including high-end materials, attention to craftsmanship and texture. Ford is working on improving interior quality and the Interceptor is a step in the right direction.
