1:45 pm - Ford introduces Sport Trac, Fairlane, SYN us and Shelby GR-1 Concepts

The Sport Trac Concept, a revamped version the current model, remains a sport-utility vehicle crossed with a pick-up. It is powered by a V8 engine, features a lowered independent suspension and 21-inch wheels. The cabin is 5" larger and is equipped with roll stability control. To further the concept theme, Ford has removed all door handles and has added a hood scoop and larger tuner style front and rear bumpers.

The Fairlane Concept is a six-passenger crossover-SUV that features rectangular styling. Ford defines the Fairlane as "upright and upscale." The front seats are described as airplane-like and both the 2nd and 3rd rows fold flat. The tailgate can be opened from either the left or right hand side.

The SYN US Concept is an armoured-vehicle-style truck that takes its styling cues from current Ford pickups, notably its square 3-slat grille. It is powered by a 2-liter 4-cylinder Diesel engine that develops 134 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. He trick interior features seatbacks that can either face towards the front or the rear. The large rear cargo door has a flat large screen TV for those nights when you really want to rough it out. The SYN US is a rolling showcase of Ford's latest technologies and gizmos.

The Shelby GR-1 is a stunning fastback coupe powered by 390 cubic inch 605-horsepower V10 engine. It is finished in hand polished aluminium and features doors that open butterfly-style, like the Lamborghini Murcielago. The cabin boasts special digital and analog gauges and a full race spec interior.

The Show also demonstrates the nearly endless list of tuners that are ready and willing to modify anybody's Mustang. With wild and crazy looking skirt kits, oversized wheels, performance exhaust systems and superchargers, tuners like Saleen, Roush, Tiger Racing and 3D Carbon (all located in California) are just a phone call away. Only the sky and your budget are the limits to what can be done to your new Pony Car.
