The two most emblematic models from Ford, the Mustang and the F-150, will be available in hybrid versions within the next five years, according to an announcement made in January by the automaker. In addition, no fewer than 11 other electrically powered models will be launched by Ford by 2022, including an electric SUV with a range of 300 miles, or over 480 km. What’s more, the company intends to introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the Ford Transit Custom van by 2029, albeit exclusively for the European market.

Few details have been forthcoming as of yet regarding the new models, beyond plans to assemble the Mustang and F-150 at Ford’s American plants at Flat Rock and Dearborn, in Michigan, and an announced total investment of $700 million. Production of the models is expected to generate 700 jobs in the United States.
