The ExplorerSport Trac concept's interior also is a tribute to the street rod look and feel,Mays says. "With two rows of seating, the environment is simple, yet modern. Itfeatures four captain's chairs separated by a front and rear center consolewith an abundance of storage."

The interiorcolor theme is two-tone -- Light Ice blue and Midnight navy. The Light Iceleather seats have navy embossed mesh on the seat backs and inserts and aretrimmed in contrast navy stitching. Mays says this color palette also iscontinued throughout the cabin accenting the steering wheel, front and rearcenter console, headliner, door trim panels, shifter and instrument panel.

The truck'sprimary gauges are contained within a singe oval instrument binnacle, with thespeedometer prominently displayed next to the tachometer. Audio and climatecontrols are presented in the center of the instrument panel, just ahead of thefloor-mounted shifter. Polished aluminum accents the air vents, instrumentbinnacle and shifter.

The ExplorerSport Trac concept is powered by a "performance-tuned" version of Ford's 4.6-literV-8, and that independent rear suspension delivers another performanceenhancement.

Roll StabilityControl is said to add another dimension of sensing to conventional electronicstability control systems. "Unlike any other system in the world," Feuellsays, "it features roll-rate sensing and correcting capability, offeringassistance to the driver in maintaining vehicle control during extrememaneuvers. If the system detects the possibility of a rollover, withinmilliseconds it automatically engages counter measures to help the drivermaintain maximum control and further reduce the risk of rollover."

Ford declines togive a production date for the upgraded Sport Trac, but we can pretty muchsafely assume that it will be at least a year -- or more -- before it turns upin Canada's Ford dealerships.
