Despite making its debut “way” back in 2021, the RAV4 Prime, the most powerful PHEV out there and the most likely and able to run in purely electric mode, thanks to its 68-km range, continues to generate strong interest among buyers. Wait times are legendary, though they have come back down to Earth a little bit.

In fact, even the troubles associated with corroded cables have not tarnished the reputation of this electrified SUV.

The other option in the Toyota showroom is to take a look at a very different beast, the Prius Prime.

Possible range (in electric mode): 40 (Prius Prime) and 68 km (RAV4 Prime).

At Volvo, electrification is extended to the entire range in 2023. Specifically plug-in hybrid technology, the choice doesn’t extend quite that far but it’s still extensive. We have the XC90 Recharge and the XC60 Recharge SUVs, as well as the S90 Recharge, S60 Recharge and V60 Recharge cars.

Possible range (in electric mode): 58 to 64 km.
