Automaker Volvo and navigation experts Garmin have developed an elegant in-car navigation kit that can be fitted to all new Volvo cars as a dealer installed accessory. The kit includes a mounting bracket and the navigator unit itself, and Volvo Canada's Chad Heard says it will be available for about $895 when it goes on sale in Canada.
Offering a convenient plug and play solution, the unit is attached to a bracket on the top of the dashboard. This bracket folds out of the way when not required, and has a built-in power supply for a sleek and integrated look- as opposed to the suction cups and wiring that are more commonly associated with portable systems.
The Garmin Nuvi 760 navigation unit features a sleek and trim design which displays 3D maps and directions on its 4.3 inch widescreen. The unit is specially designed to be readable even in direct sunlight, and Volvo says they've strategically placed the device in an area where it won't interfere with concentration on the road.
The dealer installed navigation system fits all new models and can also be retrofitted to older Volvo products dating back to 1999.
