This fall, the Buick Regal family will expand with the arrival of the powerful GS and the more fuel-efficient eAssist. Before the first units make their way into showrooms, General Motors of Canada today released pricing and additional details for both new models.

The highlight of the Buick Regal eAssist, which starts at $34,190, is the ability to deliver fuel consumption ratings of 8.3 L/100 km in the city and 5.4 L/100 km on the highway. Such thrifty performance comes from pairing the direct-injected, 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder Ecotec engine with a lithium-ion battery and electric motor-generator that enables regenerative braking.

Meanwhile, the Regal GS should prove more popular among sporty driving enthusiasts. Priced at $42,345, it stands out with a direct-injected, 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged Ecotec engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque through a 6-speed manual gearbox. Yet, this powerful model achieves a fuel consumption rating of 7.4 L/100 km on the highway.

The GS also features a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel with audio controls, metal sport pedals, leather-appointed, heated and 12-way adjustable sport seats, a 9-speaker harman/kardon sound system, 20-inch wheels, and the Interactive Drive Control System which adjusts suspension settings.

IntelliLink coming later in 2011
Later in the year, the Regal GS and eAssist models will add the brand's new infotainment system called Buick IntelliLink. For more information about the product, read this article.
