Ricky Taylor (Chevrolet Dallara) had a good start on Saturday at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, taking the lead off pole sitter Jon Fogarty (Chevrolet Riley). Despite constant pressure, he remained on top during his entire stint.

Teammate Max Angelelli was less lucky, losing the lead in the pits to Alex Gurney who reclaimed the lead of the race he was to win later on in the day. Gurney and teammate Fogarty were the defending race winners in Montreal this weekend.

Angelelli and Taylor finished in second ahead of Darren Law and teammate David Donohue (Porsche Riley), who led some laps as well on Saturday morning.

Memo Rojas (BMW Riley) did a longer first stint that gave him some track positions – since most positions were taken in the pits – and he finished fifth with Scott Pruett. Their No. 01 car was damaged by a spin early in the race which slowed down their progression, they later explained.

In GT, Boris Said (Owen Kelly, Corvette) had fallen behind before the first fifth of this two hours (74 laps) race, but a long first stint allowed him to come back in contention for the win. An accident put an end to their hopes of victory.

It was finally Robin Liddell (Ronnie Bremer, Camaro GT.R.) who won the two-hour race. It was a very hard fight in the last couple of corners, Liddell almost losing the win to Jonathan Bomarito. His teammate Sylvain Tremblay finally brings home a second place finish in the Mazda RX-8.

James Gue and teammate Dane Cameron, also on Mazda RX-8, rounded-up this GT podium in a relatively uneventful race in Montreal.

There was only one full course yellow caused by the No. 8 DP car of Enzo Potolicchio (Alex Popow and Ryan Dalziel, Ford Riley) with 10 laps to go and a restart with seven to go.

There are four races remaining to the 2011 season of the Grand-Am Series. The teams and drivers will be heading for Mid-Ohio mid-September.
