Finally, one good news in these times of gloomy economy. McDonald restaurants will sponsor the No. 77 Doran Racing Ford Dallara Daytona Prototype throughout the 2009 season of theGrand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series.
Starting with this month's Rolex 24 At Daytona, McDonald's will be prominently displayed on the car, which will be piloted by drivers Memo Gidley, Brad Jaeger, Fabrizio Gollin and Matteo Bobbi. McDonald's is expected to be displayed on the car for many races in 2009.
With the announcement, McDonald's becomes the first foodservice retailer of its kind to sponsor a car as a primary or associate role within the Rolex Series.
The 13-race Rolex Sports Car Series begins with the Rolex 24, which starts on Jan. 24.
