The two months waiting period between rounds one and two of the Grand-Am season is almost over.
The Rolex series is set to proceed with the second race of the season, the Porsche 250, presented at the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama.
Corvette will be trying to put the less-than-memorable debut of their new Daytona Prototype behind them, and relegate Michael Shank Racing's Rolex 24 winning duo of Ozz Negri and John Pew to the back seat.
Starworks Motorsport, coming off an LMP2 class win at the 12 Hours of Sebring in the ALMS, will also be looking for revenge, with Ryan Dalziel and Enzo Potolicchio at the wheel of their No. 8 Ford/Riley.
In GT, 2011 champions Leh Keen and Andrew Davis will be hungry for a win aboard their No. 59 Brumos Porsche GT3, but between them and their goal stand Bill Auberlen and Canadian Paul Dalla Lana (No. 94 Turner Motorsports BMW M3) and Daytona winners John Potter and Andy Lally (No. 44 Magnus Racing Porsche GT).
As well as their No. 51 Audi R8 GT entry, APR motorsports will be bringing six cars – an S4 and five Volkswagens – destined to race in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Barber 200, which is set to break its own starters record, going from 69 cars on the grid in 2006, to an expected 78 in 2012.
