1923 Autocar
The Autocar brand was founded in 1897 in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Although it produced cars from 1901 to 1912, it made its mark particularly in the field of utility trucks. The company was purchased by White in 1953 and then by Volvo in 1981.
Incredibly, the Coach Division is still active today. Interestingly enough, the engine is located under the seat. Would that make this model the first in history to feature massaging seats?
1917 Indiana
The Indiana Truck Company produced its first truck in 1910, and it specialized solely in the manufacture of this type of vehicle until it disappeared from the scene in 1939. In the early 1930s, more specifically around 1932-33, the company passed into the hands of the White firm. Needless to say, we had never encountered a vehicle from this company before we came across this one in Hershey.
