If more power and features are needed, the upgraded X3 3.0i will start at $49,850. The 3.0-L inline-6 develops 225-hp, which is more than adequate for delivering spirited performance. It also features a standard 6-speed manual and optional 5-speed automatic with Steptronic.

Both models boast BMW's new xDrive all-wheel drive system, a sophisticated arrangement that distributes torque variably and infinitely between the front and rear axles. Road-holding performance is dramatically enhanced in all conditions, without any driver intervention.
The new model features the high quality fit and finish and superior materials common to all BMWs, plus a commodious seating area and plenty of room for storage - up to 480 L (17.0 cu ft) with the rear seats upright and 1560 L (55.1 cu ft) with all seats folded flat. Those rear seats fold in a 60/40 configuration, making storing longer items possible while carrying more than two occupants.

While a number of packages allow X3 customers to personalize their vehicles, two notable options include adaptive headlights, which turn to light up the approaching corner, and a twin section panorama sunroof. BMW has also created a catalog of aftermarket stowage solutions such as bike racks, clamps and cargo boxes that fix into integrated tracks on the cargo floor.
If you're eager to check it out for yourself, BMW dealers will be receiving a limited allocation of X3 3.0i models towards the end of this month, with the X3 2.5i following early in the New Year.
