Earlier this week, we reported that Hyundai was currently working on a sub-compact SUV called Kona. Well, a few days later Hyundai Canada issued a press release to confirm that this new model is coming in 2017.
Look for the Hyundai Kona to make its global auto show debut in Frankfurt in September.
Developed at Hyundai’s design studio in Germany, the Kona promises to combine modern and aggressive styling with an interior that offers class-leading space and premium features. It will target younger drivers and compete directly with the Mazda CX-3, Honda HR-V, Ford EcoSport, and the like.
Set to join the Tucson, Santa Fe, and Santa Fe XL in the Korean automaker’s lineup, the Hyundai Kona is another important addition following the redesigned Elantra GT and Accent.
Once again, Hyundai chose a name that echoes hot and exotic climates, more precisely the Kona district on the Big Island of Hawaii, which is known for its energetic image and unique, adventurous lifestyle.
