With his second place yesterday at the SunRichGourmet.com 100, Raphael Matos took the 2008 Indy Lights Series title as his AFS Racing/AGR Racing teammate Arie Luyendyk Jr. took the victory in the final stages of the race at Chicagoland.

Matos' title victory was sealed when the No. 7 Lucas Oil/Sam Schmidt Motorsports car driven by runner-up Richard Antinucci was involved in a lap 26-accident with the No. 4 Car Crafters Guthrie Racing entry driven by Sean Guthrie.

Last year, Raphael Matos had won the Atlantic Series championship and the $1 million purse that went along with it to be use to fund a ride in Champ Car. Unable to find a good ride, Matos decided to switch to the Indy Lights Series.
