Even thought the circonstances are not the best for someone to get back behind the wheel, IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti was back in the saddle to commence the second round of manufacturer testing for Honda at Sebring International Raceway.
Along with Franchitti, Ryan Hunter-Reay was also in Sebring to conduct the development program of Chevrolet.
The engine manufacturers’ program, which began at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in early October, is in full swing with testing almost every week through mid-December.
Dario Franchitti and his teammate Scott Dixon, who ran the first the Honda car at Mid-Ohio, will both share driving duties in the coming weeks.
Will Power, who did the same work in Mid-Ohio but for Chevrolet, will let Hunter-Reay drove the two days at Sebring, while Tony Kanaan will take over next week.
Manufacturers have a homologation date of 30 days before the March 25 opener in St. Petersburg. Teams are scheduled to take delivery of their first DW12 chassis in mid-December.
