Baltimore city officials have terminated the contract of the IndyCar Series' Baltimore Grand Prix event organizers, Baltimore Racing Development (BRD), following some contractual dispute between BRD and the city.

Nevertheless, city representatives are adamant IndyCar will be back to Baltimore’s streets in 2012 – and beyond – and that mishandling of the finances by BRD, creating $1.5 million of debt, have not put off their motivation.

The five-year deal was expected to create 2000 jobs and bring $11 million in tax revenue.

The second annual Baltimore Grand Prix will be held on Sept. 1-2, but only if the city can find a new group to take over the event.
