EFormulaCarNews.com has published its ranking of the more than 200 drivers who appears on the North American formula car racers’ list on which three Canadians are in the top-25.
James Hinchcliffe was the best rated among them in third place while Mikael Grenier was 13th despite the fact that he did not contest the whole season in the Star Mazda Series.
Another Canadian competing in the IndyCar latter series, Philip Major was 21st after cometing in his first ever Indy Lights season for Sam Schmidt Motorsports.
Star Mazda current champion Conor Daly was the highest rated driver while Firestone Indy Lights champion J.K. Vernay was second.
Firestone Indy Lights championship runner-up James Hinchcliffe, Star Mazda runner-up Anders Krohn and Firestone Indy Lights front-runner Charlie Kimball round out the top five.
The EFCN Driver Rankings are calculated using a driver’s best finishes in the pro junior formula car series raced in North America (Firestone Indy Lights, Star Mazda Championship, F2000 Championship Series, Pacific F2000 Championship, USF2000 National Championship, Formula Enterprises Pro Series and Skip Barber National).
Each series was initially weighted based on its prestige and history, the events and tracks at which it races, and of course the depth of talent, with a score of 10 being the highest attainable base ranking.
