Panther Racing
Panther Racing officially announced that 2009 Indy Lights champion J.R. Hildebrand will replace Dan Wheldon this season. According to the young American and his team, all signs point to more success on road tracks, something Wheldon desperately couldn't achieve.
Meanwhile, Panther Racing is also looking at a second driver that could bring more expertise and money.
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing
Upon writing these lines, a 25-year-old Brazilian named Ana Beatriz was announced as the successor to Mike Conway after completing four races for the team in 2010. Justin Wilson, who was rumoured to be on his way out, will return for a second season.
Sources indicate that Dreyer & Reinbold Racing will soon confirm a third entry for the Indy 500.
A.J. Foyt Enterprises
American motorsport legend A.J. Foyt confirmed that Vitor Meira will drive the No. 14 ABC Supply car after the Brazilian firmly established himself as one of the top contenders from the smaller teams.
Together with BAM Racing, Foyt also announced an extra entry for the Indy 500.
FAZZT Race Team/Sam Schmidt Motorsports
Sam Schmidt Motorsports purchased the assets of FAZZT Racing and it looks like Alex Tagliani will drive the No. 77 Dallara in 2011. The team will field a total of four cars in Indy Lights using its current facilities, while FAZZT Racing will likely stay put.
Schmidt announced last week that Jay Howard would drive one of its cars at the Indy 500. However, we don't know if the whole operation will be transferred to Bobby Rahal or if Howard will team up with Tagliani this season.
De Ferran Dragon Racing
For lack of funds, Gil de Ferran had to shut down his team, which forced Tony Kanaan to find a new job. While the 2004 champion would like to remain in IndyCar, he could join Kyle Busch in NASCAR Truck Series or stay in Brazil to race stock cars.
