Will Power came on top Saturday by edging both of his teammates in an all Penske's charge in qualifying for this Sunday's IndyCar race in Sears Point.
Not only did he take the pole, but he did it by setting a time of 1:18.6017 that ended up unreachable for all his opponents.
Helio Castroneves came closest, albeit almost 0.5s in arrears, while Ryan Briscoe was third fastest.
Championship leader Dario Franchitti could not get up to speed to beat his main title rival and finished fourth while his Chip Ganassi Racing partner Scott Dixon completed the top-5.
Canadian rookie Jamies Hinchcliffe (Newman Haas Racing) had a great qualifying session and will start in sixth.
On his part, countryman Alex Tagliani (Sam Schmidt Motorsports) was 12th, the veteran having been unable to complete the practice session on Friday because of an accident.
