Ari Vatanen was injured after his accident aboard a Peugeot 207 RC that he was driving as a course car in Tour de Corse, third round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
Vatanen was driving with his son Max Vatanen as codriver when he went off at high speed in SS6. The Finn was complaining of back pain and was air lifted by helicopter to hospital in Bastia in Corsica, and has been transferred to Marseille’s hospital to undergo for an operation on his neck. His son has not been injured in the accident.
Thierry Neuville (Peugeot 207 RC) was leading the race after ESS11.
