IRL: Five engine manufacturers still interested

Although the IRL authorities are refusing to give any names, except for the obvious Honda, five engine manufacturers are still in the process of participating in discussions for the development of a new engine for 2010.

A meeting was held on September 17, and IndyCar President Brian Barnhart was pleased again with the participation and enthusiasm of those manufacturers about potentially joining the series.

Barnhart said there's a consensus on about 70 percent of the package. That's where the homework assignments come in - to arrive at answers that completely satisfy all entities in regards to the performance levels the sanctioning body is expecting on the variety pack of oval and street/road courses well beyond 2011.
