Andretti Green Promotions has until the end of the month to purchase the rights to Toronto's former Champ Car race. However, there are indications that Michael Andretti is still undecided after discovering that the event has been running a $2-million deficit and before they sign off on the deal, they want someone to step in and cover that shortfall.

The President and CEO of Grand Prix of Toronto, Charlie Johnstone, says while the race has not been a money-maker for some time but he still considers it a viable business entity especially now that the two open-wheel series - Champ Car and IRL - have united.

Johnstone added he is "cautiously optimistic" that a deal can be concluded with Andretti Green Promotions.
