"There are no plans for a joint venture with another carmaker, but to ensure the profitability of this new model line, we will
cooperate more closely than so far with selected system suppliers."
After the Panamera's platform architecture has been developed at Porsche's research and development center in Weissach, according to Wiedeking, it will be produced in Leipzig, Germany, where the Cayenne and Carrera GT are built. It is also notable that Porsche will fund the entire project, an estimated investment in excess of 1 billion euro ($1.2 billion USD), in house.
"We will be developing a separate platform for our fourth model line at our Weissach R&D center," added Wiedeking.
Porsche is targeting 20,000 Panameras per year starting in 2009, with an estimated 42 percent for North American consumption.
