Jaguar Land Rover's all-new “360 Virtual Urban Windscreen”, which is basically an advanced head-up display covering the entire windshield, uses front blind-spot cameras as well as LCD screens built into the A-pillars to make the latter disappear by projecting images of the exterior.
Pedestrians crossing the street are automatically highlighted with a red rectangle to alert the driver about the risk of a collision. Parking lots are identified along the way, and the number of parking spots available is displayed on the windshield. What's more, a countdown tells the driver when the red light is about to turn green.
Jaguar Land Rover also launched Follow-Me Ghost Car Navigation. As the name implies, a ghost car can be projected onto the windshield for the driver to follow – like a GPS-equipped friend telling you which way to go.
The automaker said the system is still under development and did not specify whether it will hit the market anytime soon.
