Jeep Wrangler Pickup Headed for Production

The much-talked-about pickup version of the Jeep Wrangler is, finally, a go, at least according to what American dealerships are saying following meetings with the manufacturer.

The idea of bringing a pickup variant based on the iconic Wrangler model back to the company’s lineup has been bandied about for years, and a number of pickup-style concepts have seen the day – think of the Jeep Crew Chief 715 Concept shown above, for example, or the Gladiator concept from 2005, here below. You never know what Jeep is going to show up with at the annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari either.

Now, it appears the company is ready to begin production on an as-yet-unnamed Wrangler-based pickup by the end of 2018, with a launch date set for April 2019. Spyshots are circulating showing a camouflaged version very similar in overall shape to the Wrangler itself. According to FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne, the new model will carry a high price tag and be produced in smaller quantities than most of its Jeep stablemates.
