OK, fair enough, many would have preferred the box to reveal Pamela Anderson in a bikini two sizes too small for her, or possibly Brad Pitt in a flimsy G-String posing pouch, but for me, this was cool with a capitol C!
It was the product launch for "the working man" who is all too often forgotten at these events. It took guts for Daimler-Chrysler to make a song and dance out of a commercial vehicle launch, and I think that we should all raise our coffee-break mugs to them.
I can fully understand why they did this. We all know that the Dodge Sprinter has been transforming the commercial van world since it first entered the arena, and now this all-new Sprinter is even better. OK, so while it might not blow everyone's socks off, I can tell you "it'll make a few hard hats spin".
The Toronto Auto Show was certainly one of the highlights of my year. It was well put together, well organized, and suitably impressive.
From the smile that Daimler-Chrysler gave me at the start, to the final Hyundai/XM radio launch of the Veracruz crossover where comedian Mike Bullard had me in stitches, it was great. It also demonstrated to me that when Canadians want to put on a show, we can mix it up with the best of them.
