As the teams had their cars scrutinized for the Le Mans 24 Hours classic, Peugeot Sport threatens to protest the new Audi R15 TDI that recently won the 12 Hours of Sebring.

After the Sebring race, Peugeot and other competitors asked the ACO (Automobile club de l'ouest) to examine the engine cover and the front air splitter of the Audi. They claimed that certain aerodynamic parts were not within the regulations, especially the two flaps located inside the front section of the car. They said that these elements generated downforce.

During the technical inspection at Le Mans, Peugeot personnel examined the Audi and noticed the while the rear bodywork was modified; the front splitter remained unchanged.

Peugeot Sport boss Olivier Quesnel said the team could protest the Audi R15s before the start of the race on Saturday.

However, the ACO has issued a short press release a few weeks ago that stated that the Audi R15 fully respected the technical regulations of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
