The ORECA Peugeot 908 driven by Olivier Panis, Nicolas Lapierre and Stéphane Sarrazin, clinched victory at Portimao, round three of the Le Mans Series championship.

The French car was the obvious favorite of the LMP1 category, considering that Audi and the Peugeot works team decided not to take part to this event in Algarve.

Stephane Sarrazin joined Olivier Panis and Nicolas Lapierre for the 1000km race, and the three Frenchmen dominated the race as they led every lap of it, after they started from pole position.

The following car was a Lola Rebellion, which finished second, five laps adrift. The Signature Lola Aston took 3rd place.

Victory in the LMP2 class went to the Lola RML driven by Erdos, Newton and Collins. The Honda HPD Strakka, which was running first early in the race, had to stop with mechanical issues.

The Larbre Competition Saleen driven by Gardel, Goueslard and Ress took the GT1 win, as the GT2 category was dominated by Bruno and Melo’s Ferrari AF Corse.
