The Peugeot 908 took a 1-2 in Spa 1000 km, second round of the Le Mans Serie championship, after a chaotic race which included a red flag causing by a major power cut !

The incident, that knocked out the timing screens and monitor, forced the organizers to stop the race after two hours, while Kristensen-McNish-Capello’s Audi R15 was running first.

After the restart, Capello was hauled by Sébastien Bourdais’ Peugeot 908 for the lead. After a great fight with the italian driver, the frenchman took the lead when Capello had to change tyres during his pit stop.

Christopher Nygaard’s GT1 Aston Martin heavy accident brought a full-course caution one hour to the end, then the rain appears half an hour later. Simon Pagenaud, who replaced Bourdais in the leading Peugeot, went wide in the grass, but was able to keep the lead ahead of Kristensen’s Audi.

The Dan found himself under attack from the Peugeot 908 driven by Stéphane Sarrazin. The #2 french car, that suffered a crashed right before the red flag, was rebuilt, and then had a great catch-up in race. Sarrazin overtook Kristensen for P2, which gave Peugeot a great 1-2 at the finish line.

The ORECA Peugeot, driven by Olivier Panis and Nicolas Lapierre, had to retire after a crash in the early lap, following a contact with Jean-Christophe Bouillon’s Team Rebellion Lola.

Amaral and Pla (Ginetta-Zytek) clinched victory in LMP2. Leinder-Patlttala-De Doncker took GT1 victory, while german pair Lieb and Lietz was the winner in GT2.
