The Hot Wheels brand is about to turn forty.
To help them celebrate, they've asked automotive industry leaders from around the world to create a concept vehicle which embodies their own engineering philosophy and brand. Lotus, eager to accept the challenge, has created a striking two-seat, open-topped concept model that you can park one on your desk.
The Lotus Hot Wheels Concept was on display in 1:5 sizing during the SEMA show at Las Vegas which opened last month- but it's a 1:64 scale version of the design that will make its way to store shelves under the Hot Wheels product range.
Russell Carr heads design duties for Lotus. He related the experience of creating the Hot Wheels Concept to that of being a great big kid all over again. "This was a dream job for the design team because, for any of us, when we were children, it was Hot Wheels® that first ignited our passion for cars and design. We relished the opportunity to design a concept that was free from the typical technical and legal constraints of a full size car."
