Following in the footsteps of three very well received concept cars from last year (the Sassou, Senku and Kabura), the new Nagare concept will serve to demonstrate the direction of the Japanese automakers future design direction.

Laurens van den Acker, Mazda's new global design director, says the Nagare (pronounced na-gah-reh) sums up the future of design at Mazda in one simple word: flow. "Nagare is a celebration of proportions and surface language that will evolve into subsequent designs planned for presentation at future international auto shows. Nagare examines light and shadow, and begins to reveal the global design cues for the next generation of Mazda vehicles" van den Acker said.

The evolving expression of Zoom-Zoom, Nagare is inspired by the movement of nature's elements, capturing motion, energy and lightness to create a provocative and seductive package. Franz Von Holzhausen is the Director of Design for Mazda, and headed the Nagare design team in Irvine, California. He describes the new shape as a "beautiful language of lines and forms that are powerful yet effortless".

Mazda promises that there is more to come based on this new design, which will be on display at the end of the month.
