The powerful engine and drivetrain combination are joined by what should be a stunning exterior design. The rendering looks a lot more like a supercar than a sports coupe, but automotive artists make a habit of stretching the envelope. Nevertheless the Concept E shows off deep valances, teardrop shaped windows and massively enlarged fenders. The front end features Mitsubishi's new corporate face, with triangular lights and grille. Other details include twin decklid spoilers and a rear diffuser to improve downforce, side-mounted exhaust pipes, crystal-clear tail lamp lenses, and large alloy wheels wrapped in high-performance rubber.

Though no images of the Concept E's interior have been made available it is expected to be high-tech and very futuristic, in keeping with the car's exterior design and technologically advanced drivetrain. Tear-drop shaped inserts and designs will be featured throughout, while two overlapping LCD screens create three-dimensional effects for the new 'Deep Video and Multi-Layer Display' system.
The second concept vehicle that Mitsubishi plans to unveil at Detroit is a 2+2 four-door Sport Truck. Produced in cooperation with partial parent DaimlerChrysler's Dodge division, this new truck will actually signify a truck-partnership between the two brands.
The Sport Truck concept receives a version of Chrysler Group's SOHC 4.7-liter V8 engine that sports 235-hp and 295 lb-ft of torque in Dodge Dakota guise, itself driving all four wheels via a five-speed transmission. Performance is expected to be strong.
While less technically sophisticated than its Concept E cousin, the new Sport Truck retains an exciting concept car look and feel. Again only an artist's rendering is available, but from the drawing a low cabin line plus sleek, wraparound windows are evident, helping create the sporty look, while a matte-black and chrome front end plus slash-cut fenders give an aggressive appearance. Adding to the rough-and-tough styling are impressive looking six-spoke 22-inch alloy wheels.
