the pole, while his RuSport teammate AJ Allmendinger came from fourth on the grid. Canadian Paul Tracy finished third, and he was the top Canadian. The two other Canadians in the series enjoyed fairly successful weekends in Mexico. Andrew Ranger finished 9th, after starting 17th, and Alex Tagliani finished 8th after starting 11th.
Sebastien Bourdais had already clinched the crown, but his season ended on a down note as he retired on lap 61 after contact. The off season for the Champ Car World Series looks like it could be as eventful as ever, as there still is that pesky

proposal that would see the teams 'share' cars with the IRL teams next year. Personally I don't see that happening, at least as it currently stands, but I can see teams buying both IRL and Champ Car Chassis for 2006 and picking and choosing which races to attend. This could well put the pressure back on both series to come to some agreement for the future. It could well start with a 'combined' schedule, with individual rules, then migrate into a single series in 2007 when both series are scheduled for wholesale technical changes - that is providing both series last that long.
