CASCAR chief Tony Novotny was a guest on Speed TV's Wind Tunnel on Sunday night, basically to talk about the ongoing alliance
between NASCAR and CASCAR. It has long been Novotny's plan to sell the CASCAR series - he has once already - to someone who "will take it to the next level" according to Novotny. The rumour mill is that NASCAR will try to change the type of car that runs here in CASCAR and that has the teams worried about what to build for 2006. Novotny didn't drop any bombshells on the show - which was feared by some - and it looks like NASCAR is taking a long, hard look at what to do with, or about CASCAR...
Team Canada is ready and set to depart for the upcoming Rotax Max World Finals in Langkawi, Malaysia. Senior drivers Marco Di Leo and Eric Gerrits, both from the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship should be in the running for podium finishes. With Maxime Pelletier added to the junior team, it doubles Canada's chances for success as he will join Christophe Boisclair, who is competing in his third World Finals...
Mike Stefanik is probably the angriest race car driver on the planet this week. Stefanik was in the Toyota All Star Late Model race
at Irwindale Speedway last weekend, and was leading when a yellow came out with 10 laps to go. Stefanik slowed, and was hit by another car, which spun him out, under yellow. NASCAR decided he should go to the back - remember he was the leader, and not part of the incident that brought out the yellow. Stefanik was beside himself, and refused to go to the back and therefore was black flagged, which ended his night. The TV cameras caught up with him as he got out of his car, and he was remarkably restrained for a driver, team and sponsor that were robbed of a chance of a race win by one of the worst calls ever made in motorsport.
