Canadian driver Andrew Ranger (Roxton Pond, Quebec) led Saturday's practice session at the GP3R, recording a time under his former track record of 68.291 in 67.932.
Behind Ranger was long time Trois-Rivières rival J.R. Fitzpatrick with a time also under the track record at 68.157 seconds.
Points leader Scott Steckly posted the third fastest time of the morning with a lap of 68.380 seconds followed by Jeff Lapcevich and D.J. Kennington.
Trois-Rivières native Louis-Philippe and Jean-François Dumoulin were both in the top-10 with a 7th and 8th position respectively.
Mark Dilley was 6th while Ron Beauchamp Jr. and Don Thomson Jr. completed the top-10.
Ranger is the only driver apart from Kerry Micks who ever won the NASCAR Canadian Tire series' race in the streets of Trois-Rivières. Almost every time, he had to battle hard against Fitzpatrick. Will the scenario repeat itself tomorrow?
The qualifying session is planned for 3:50 p.m., later this afternoon. The GP3R 100 is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
