Roush Fenway Racing co-owner, Jack Roush was involved in an airplane accident while attempting to land his private jet in Oshkosh, WI on Tuesday evening.
According to reports from the Experimental Aircraft Association the National Transportation’s Safety Board and local sheriff confirm that Roush and Ms. Brenda Strickland were able to leave the damaged Hawker Beechcraft Premier business jet.
Both were taken to local hospitals.
A team release said “Dr. Kevin Wasco, the attending physician, says that Roush is in serious but stable condition. His injuries are not life threatening.”
Ms. Strickland’s injuries were also described as not life threatening.
A graphic photograph, briefly circulated on the internet, shows Roush standing on the edge of the door of the plane with a safety worker assisting help Roush exit the stricken aircraft. The photo show loss of blood, but, he appears conscious.
"There are injuries. Possible surgery," Roush Fenway Racing president Geoff Smith said in a text message to The Associated Press. "But he walked out of the plane."
While the plane he was flying was a conventional business jet Roush survived a life-threatening crash in 2002 near Talladega Speedway.
Roush is pilot with many hours of experience. His air fleet includes a World War II-era P-51 Mustang which he flies.
