It was expected and it happened: Scott Speed officially filed a lawsuit against NASCAR team Red Bull who released him from his contract last month.
The American driver is claiming that the team breach his contract and will go in court to defend his rights.
The lawsuit was filed with the North Carolina Superior Court and is likely to take several months before hearing.
Red Bull had initially picked up their option on Speed earlier this year, but than claimed there were performances clauses that Speed had to meet in order to keep his ride.
Speed personnaly claims he has signed a contract for 2011, contract Red Bull has breached.
The 27-year-old driver is expected to remain in NASCAR despite the lost of this drive. He is currently looking at certain opportunities although he admits "it's hard to find a drive when you start looking in December."
