Because of concerns related to quality issues, Volkswagen has decided to
put off launching their new retractable hard top convertible until May of 2006 instead of March of next year.

VW group chief Wolfgang Bernhard wants to drastically cut warranty claims and their related costs by close to $600 million US by the year 2008. To do so, warranty repair requests on cars up to a year old will drop by 50% by the same year.

Volkswagen's restructuring program "ForMotion Plus" is designed to increase gross profit by $4.66 billion US to nearly $6 billion US by the magical 2008 model year. Reducing costs and increasing the brand's ranking in quality tests are therefore very important.

Volkswagen plans to build 50,000 Eos models a year.
