The new engine will be featured in a variety of Chrysler Group vehicles that will also share the new compact's chassis architecture. Two of these will be car-based SUVs, one from Dodge and the other for Jeep.

Not much is known about the Dodge version, other than that it will also resemble the Avenger concept car, but the upcoming Jeep is expected to be influenced by the Compass concept of 2002. When produced, it will be the first vehicle in decades to wear the Jeep name that is not "Trail Rated", a move that has some auto industry experts concerned the brand's go-anywhere image will suffer.
