The model is not expected to be called Compass, with the rumour mill now naming it Scout, once the designation given to the smallest 4x4 built by the International brand.

The second-generation PT Cruiser will also ride on the upcoming compact architecture, as will Mitsubishi's Outlander (which is expected to offer an optional V6).
The SX replacement, as well as the Dodge and Jeep SUVs, will be manufactured at the Belvedere, Illinois plant, with some speculation that the next generation PT Cruiser may also be built there.

The PM49 architecture, stretched to midsize proportions, will also underpin the next generation Dodge Stratus sedan and Chrysler Sebring sedan and convertible - the coupes are expected to be dropped. Due to arrive in 2006 for the 2007 model year, they'll be built at Chrysler's Sterling Heights, Michigan facility.
While the next-gen Stratus and Sebring models are a ways away, expect the SX replacement to debut at a major U.S, auto show sometime this year. While Chicago is just around the corner, New York is the most likely stage for a vehicle critical to Chrysler's ongoing success.
