Nissan has never really been afraid to be on the cutting edge. They've pioneered everything from new technologies to entire vehicle segments, and their forward thinking attitude is about to take them deep into the realm of the World Wide Web and digital entertainment.

They've teamed up with Microsoft, and alongside the software giant the Japanese automaker today announced that they will be stepping up web
based advertising efforts in order to appeal to a changing demographic that is said to be increasingly mobile. The alliance with Microsoft will allow Nissan to advertise to consumers across various digital environments like Windows Live, Microsoft Xbox and Windows Mobile.

What was once a game of appealing to your target market by medium has in some ways become a game of appealing to them by device- and Nissan is at the forefront. PC's, PDA's, video game consoles and even mobile phones may all soon carry Nissan advertising.

As part of the package, Nissan has access to Microsoft product developers and strategists to help meet their goals.

The carmaker will also extract publicity from a sponsorship in an upcoming racing game, "Forza Motorsport 2" on the new Xbox 360 console. Mazda made a similar move into the world of video game product placement with their Mazdaspeed 3 taking a spot in the latest Electronic Arts racing game "Need For Speed: Carbon".
