The Nissan Motor Company is planning on carving itself a larger portion of the lucrative full-size pickup sales pie by offering a Navistar diesel engine in the Titan by 2009.
The Titan was first launched in 2004. At the time, Nissan was convinced that their aggressive-looking big gun would be a hit thanks to its powerful 5.6L V8 and impressive abilities. Unfortunately for them, Titan sales have not met expectations.
Enter a diesel option. International Truck and Engine Corp., Navistar's chief company, will supply Nissan with the diesel V-8 engines.
Sales have dropped 15% so far in 2007 when compared to results attained in 2006. The 2008 Titan has been revised aesthetically with the hopes of becoming more appealing. The addition of a diesel engine will surely help Nissan's cause.
Likewise, Nissan had already announced that it was planning to introduce a diesel version of the Maxima sometime in 2010.
